The leaves are growing on the trees at the Ranch Headquarters,
Providing abundant shade from the warm afternoon sun.
One day we found ourselves under the shady branches across from the new 1/4-acre family garden. We're not sure how we got there but eventually we spent the afternoon sitting on chairs, resting on the ground and watching the kids play around us.
As the gentle breeze kissed our faces and tussled the leaves above us, we all came to the same decision at the same time: to park this spot out, add a few pieces of permanent furniture, plant a few flowers and make this a designated gathering place for summer afternoons.
The kids want to build a tree house above it. The trunk of the tree is so thick, the branches so strong, that I think it just might work!
I can see it now: as we take our afternoon break we can look out over our ginormous garden and decide what we are going to can next, what will become jam, what will be grilled for dinner, or what will be made into a pie. Maybe we'll even go pluck a watermelon off a vine and have a picnic.
